Leaving So Soon?

Where did the time go? It seems like just a month ago I was wearing tank tops and shorts and now it's 27 degrees outside! With the rapid appearance of fall and it's quick departure my fall recap will be rather small. That's OK though! I definitely got in my fair share of Starbucks drinks and chilly Friday night football games.

Family time was a huge part of my fall this year. If I wasn't at school or doing sports, chances are I was at the movies with my family!

And of course, there was a ton of goofing off!

... and selfies!

We even got some pretty special guests from out west!

Then of course, there was a ton of time spent with friends! Including wacky spirit week days and squad pictures!

Whats fall without some football? Friday KNIGHT Lights!

Some shameless and basic fall pictures were taken - and some not so basic ones.

Let me assure you, my phone is filled with fall scenery pictures!

Even though I'm sad that fall is almost over, I'm so excited for Christmas carols and a winter wonderland in my every own front yard!

Classic Fall Outfit

After finally getting used to the change in weather, another big change is ahead: winter. I for one am not looking forward to having to wear big jackets and fuzzy sweaters. With fall coming to an end, everyone seems to be squeezing in there last few fall outfits. I personally have been wearing flannels and riding boots unstop! Although the weather is currently calling for bitter winds and frost covered grass, why not have one last huzzah?

Finding TiME

With the hustle and bustle of high school, finding “me time,” is rather difficult! Between sports, school activities, grades, and a social life, me time is on the corner of not and going to happen. Sometimes my life becomes so hectic that I can't even think about the fact that I am busy! By the time that I do it’s all downhill. I’m left broken down, exhausted, overwhelmed, and stressed out. Over the years I have found that, although I am an extremely social person, I need to be by myself sometimes. I undeniably gain my energy from spending time with myself. Here are some of my favorite ways to “recharge.”

You Fancy, Huh?

It’s the beginning of the school year and we all know what that means: homecoming and formal dances. Although dances are tons of fun, that excitement comes with stress and drama. Picking out the perfect dress is probably the most nerve-racking of the things that come with dances. You have to make sure that your dress is flattering, no one else has it, and on top of that, that it is inexpensive! Although I have only attended one homecoming and have only been to a few formal dances, the pressure that builds up from trying to find the perfect dress always makes me never want to go to one again! Nonetheless, when you get passed this dress hassle, dances and formals can be tons of fun!

In terms of dresses, I tend to gravitate more towards either classic or knee length princess dresses.  Although classic dresses aren’t as trendy as high low dresses with sparkles, they are timeless. I feel that the dresses I have below could work for any school dance, wedding, sorority recruitment, formal, or even a business party (depending on your age). I tried to include a various amount of styles and prices (most are under $50) that might suit your taste.

Don't Be A Pansy!

Making the outfit transition from summer to fall can be hard! You just don’t quite feel ready to trade in your colorful shorts for plain colored jeans. And finding the balance between bright hues and crisp air can be difficult! Although patterned pink and yellow pants aren’t the most worn thing in the fall, who says you can’t change it up a bit? Being a lover of bright colors and cable knit sweaters, I have no problem with making my "Fall" outfits more like Spring and Summer attires!

10 Things That Make Me Happy

With this week being SOL week I have found myself in a slump. And with rough weeks come sad thoughts (it's simple logic). With that said, I feel like I first off, need a break from my never ending studying and second, I need to think of happy thoughts! So, with my little tech fingers, I found the perfect thing on The Girl In Pink's blog: 5 Things That Make Me Happy.

10 Things That Make Me Happy

Looking Through Old Pictures
Looking through my pictures from elementary school, middle school, and even maybe just a few days ago makes me feel extremely happy! When I look at them, I feel like a wave of old memories just engulf me and I'm back to that moment! It takes my mind off the present and brings it back to the past.

Inspirational Quotes
Now, I know this sounds weird, but little inspirational quotes and poems just make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! They make me think about the big scheme of things and also make me feel like someone understands. One of my favorites is What Will Matter. It's heart warming and really makes you think!
"Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else. Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed. Your grudges, resentments, frustrations and jealousies will finally disappear. So too, your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do lists will expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away. It won't matter where you came from or what side of the tracks you lived on at the end. It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.  So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?  What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave. What will matter is not your success, but your significance. What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example. What will matter is not your competence, but your character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone. What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what. Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident. It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice. Choose to live a life that matters."

Pinterest
I know this sounds clique, but just look up "happy things" and images like these will come up! There adorable and definitely make me happy! In fact, I have a whole board full of things of this sort! It's amazing how much one picture can make somebodies day.

OK... I guess I really like babies and puppies ;)

Shopping
I know I know, who doesn't love shopping? But I guess that's actually it! As common as it sounds, shopping makes me really happy! Knowing that the next day I might get to sport a new pair of shorts just makes my day!

Being Organized
Knowing that I have my week planned out makes me feel relieved! I like being in control of my life and knowing how things should (hopefully) work out! Plus, some lists are really cute! If I have a Lilly Pulitzer pattern on my list, its bound to make me happy!

Lacrosse
I LOVE lacrosse! Its a way to relieve stress and have fun at the same time! Who would have thought multitasking could be so fun and easy?

My Friends
Of course my friends make me happy! They cheer me up and we have tons of fun times together!

Cupcakes
Cupcakes are my life. Literally, I think I may have a problem! I have posted so many pictures of cupcakes on my instagram, its ridiculous.

Summertime
Just like anyone else, all I want right now is for the school year to end. I like thinking about the sand in between my toes in just a few weeks.

Instagram
I have camp friends that I love to keep up with through instagram! I love scrolling down and seeing whats going on in peoples lives.
xoxo,
Jillian
